We absolutely LOVE photographing marriage proposals! It is so exciting to capture such an important moment in two people’s lives (especially when it is a complete surprise for one of them). It is even better when we are able to work with the awesome proposal planners, The Heart Bandits. We had such a great time photographing a proposal they planned at Walt Disney Concert Hall, that when they contacted us to shoot a surprise marriage proposal in Malibu, we were in!
James wanted to do something special when he proposed to his girlfriend. To keep it a surprise, they came up with an idea that wouldn’t raise any suspicion. James and Jing enjoy going to open houses of celebrity homes. So, renting out a beautiful Malibu home and staging an open house seemed like the perfect plan. Add in gorgeous flowers by Butterfly Floral, a tree filled with personal pictures of the couple, an a capella group singing Taylor Swift, a gorgeous view of the Pacific Ocean and, of course, an engagement ring. Everything went perfectly and she said yes! We are so happy for you James and Jing! Congrats!
These cute paper stars were a gift from James to Jing on their first Valentine’s Day together. Using them as part of the proposal made it even more personal.
